Panchamrit/ Charnamrit


Panchamrit or Charnamrit is a traditional beverage made especially during Hindu Poojas and religious occasions. It is made with five elements- Milk, Curd, Ghee, Sugar and Honey.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Serves: 2

 

INGREDIENTS:


Cow’s Milk- 1 cup

Cow’s Milk Curd/yogurt- 1/4th cup

Cow’s Milk Clarified butter/ Ghee- 1 teaspoon 

Sugar/ Sugar powder- 2 tablespoon 

Honey- 2 teaspoon

Ganga jal (sacred water)- 1 teaspoon 

Holy Basil leaves/ Tulsi leaves- 4-5


Makhana/ Foxnuts- 4-5 (cut into small pieces)

Cashew nuts- 2-3, chopped 

Almonds- 2-3, chopped 


DIRECTIONS:


Boil the milk and let it come to room temperature. (To increase the longevity of Panchamrit the milk should be boiled before using)

Whisk the yogurt/curd until smooth.


In a deep bowl add milk.

Add in curd and whisk well.

Next, add ghee, sugar powder, honey and ganga jal.

Mix everything well.

Garnish with tulsi leaves, Makhana pieces and chopped nuts.

(Addition of makhanas and nuts is totally optional).


Keep the prepared Panchamrit in the fridge for 2-3 hours.


Next, offer the Panchamrit to God by keeping the prepared bowl of panchamrit in front of God.

After the pooja, you can serve it as Prasad to everyone.
