Samosadillas

Samosadilla

This word is ringing a bell in your ears. Isn't it!!!!
You must be wondering what is this????? Samosadilla????
So friends Samosadilla is basically stuffing of our most loved Indian snack Samosa in the Tortillas. Sounds amazing na!!! Believe me it tastes super amazing!!!! All the scrumptiousness of Samosas sans the frying part.

For the people who don't know about samosas, they are one of the most popular Indian Snacks.
Samosa is a fried triangular pastry with a savory filling, usually a potato mixture but it can also be made with ground meat, paneer or pea mixture. I must say samosas are highly addictive especially during winters. Your evening tea is incomplete without the samosas. But yes definitely they are not friendly for the calorie conscious people ;)

On the other hand Mexican Quesadillas are tortillas with stuffing of your choice of veggies or meat along with the stuffing of cheese. Again not a very good option for weight watchers;)

Don’t worry though! This SAMOSADILLA is a healthier fusion of two unhealthy snacks- Samosa and Quesadillas ;)

They were so yummy, so tasty, so delicious that with great difficulty I could manage to take few shots. My family just couldn't wait for my photo session to be finished ;)

You have to make them to believe me. These Samosadillas are equally delicious and mouth-watering as samosa. But it consumes less time as we are using readymade flour tortillas (which are easily available in supermarkets) and yes there is no need to deep fry them. You can cook them on a griddle, pan or in a sandwich maker.

Let's see how to make this quick and easy recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

Potatoes - 4, boiled and mashed
Cooked Green Peas - 1 cup
Cashew nuts- 15, chopped

Red chili powder - 2 teaspoon

Salt - according to taste
Dry mango powder- 1/2 teaspoon

Flour Tortillas - 14 ( I have used small tortillas of about 5 inch diameter)

DIRECTIONS:

We will start by making the stuffing for the Samosadillas. For that, take a medium size bowl and mash the potatoes (but not entirely).

Coarsely mash boiled green peas too.

Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat.
Add in chopped cashew nuts and sauté till they become golden brown.

Add cumin seeds, ginger powder and asafetida and sauté.

When cumin seeds starts to crackle add in mashed potatoes and rest of the ingredients except chopped coriander and tortillas.

Give it a good mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.

 Add chopped coriander. Mix well.

Switch off the heat.
Let this stuffing mix cool down a little bit.

HOW TO MAKE SAMOSADILLA

Take one Tortilla. Place it on a flat surface and spread around 2 tablespoon of stuffing over the tortilla.

Cover it with the other Tortilla. You can add some cheese too before covering it with the other tortilla.

Arrange the prepared Samosadilla on a hot skillet or griddle and cook through until both sides are golden brown. You can use a Sandwich maker also.

Slice in 4 parts each and serve immediately with chutneys or ketchup.
In the same way make all the samosadillas.
Enjoy!!!!
