YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!
Its Thai Idlis with Thai curry n Thai Chutney.
I’m a biiiiiiig biiiiiig fan of Thai Food n South Indian food.
So while making Thai curry just a wild thought came to my mind, why not try it with Idlis.
After all Thai curry is also an assortment of veggies n spices just like our South indian Sambhar.
And believe me the taste was heavenly!!!!!
It was sooo blissful that I couldn’t stop myself from sharing it with you all.
I was so eager to try the THAI SOUTH COMBO that I used the instant idli mix. But you can try it with fresh batter also.
So keeping my story short n simple let’s jump to recipe.

THAI GREEN CURRY

Thai Green curry🍲 with Jasmine rice🍚 My all time favourite😊
For Green paste🍵
- Green chillies 10
- Fresh Coriander with stem 1 small bunch
- Lemon Grass roots 3
- Shallots 3
- Galangal 1″ pc
- Basil leaves 7-8
- kaffir Lime leaves 5-6
- Coriander seeds 2 tsp
- Cumin seeds 2 tsp
- Black peppercorns 5-6
- Salt ( acc to your taste)
- Juice of 1 Lime
🔻In a pan dry roast Coriander seeds,Cumin seeds n black peppercorns.
🔻Add some water to above ingredients n make a fine paste( It’ll be like green chutney)
- Cauliflower florets 3-4 }
- Broccoli florets 3-4 }
- Carrot( cut into roundels) 1 }Lightly steam all these vegetables
- Baby corn 4-5 }
- French beans/ Snow peas 10-15 }
- Shallots 10-15
- Red n Green capsicum 1 each ( cut into small pieces)
- Tofu 8-10 pcs
- Coconut milk ½ cup
- Basil leaves 4-5
- Galangal Julliens 1 tsp
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
🍋 In a wok put 1 tbsp oil ( i used olive oil).
🍋 Saute galangal,shallots n capsicum.
🍋 Add the prepared green paste.
🍋 All steamed vegetables n Tofu.
🍋 Add water ( app 3-4 cups)
🍋 Add coconut milk.
🍋 Bring it to a boil n let it simmer for 5-10 mins.
🍋 Add lemon juice.
🍋 Adjust the salt according to your taste.
🍋 Garnish with Basil leaves n Red chilli julliens(optional).
The best thing about Thai curry is you can add as many vegetables as you like
- Scraped coconut 1 cup
- Roasted Gram 2Tbsp
- Galangal/Ginger 2″ piece
- Green Chillies 4-5
- Lemon juice 1Tbsp
- Lime leaves 4-5
- Basil leaves 4-5
- Salt according to your taste
- Water ½ Cup
To make chutney grind all the Ingredients well.
Your chutney is ready.
I’ve used the instant Idli mix to make the Idlis. However you can use the fresh batter also.
I made the batter according to the package instructions n added the following-
- Chopped Lime leaves 4-5
- Chopped Dill leaves 2Tbsp
- Chopped Green chillies 2-3
- Grated Carrot 1medium
- Chopped Onion 1small
- Mix everything well.
- Add some salt.
- N make Idlis the way you usually make.
- I made mine in Microwave.
- Just fill the mould with the Idli batter. N cook for 3-4 mins at Micro High n it’s done.
- You can enjoy this yummy Thai Curry with Rice also.
