CHICKPEA FLOUR WAFFLES/BESAN KA CHEELA
Chickpea flour/Gram flour/Besan flour, made from chickpeas, is a wheat-free product rich in fiber,nutrients n protein.For those who want to avoid gluten completely, or want to lose weight too, besan flour would be best to have.
Since besan has low glycemic index, the calorie count would be low too.
I was given this Besan Cheela diet by my dietician. N believe me I was surprised to know that Besan is a very good source of protein so apt for vegetarians like me.
I prefer Making Besan Cheela with lots of green vegetables.
 Today I tried to gave a new avatar to age old Cheelas n instead turned them in Continental dish Waffles.
How the shape or the serving style changes the taste, this one dish proves it to the best of example.
 I am sure everyone will love to eat this nutritious and tasty hot served dish.
Easy peasy to make.
But High on taste n healthπŸ˜‹πŸ’ͺ 
Ingredients:
  • 2-cups Besan
  • 1-large finely chopped Onion
  • 1-finely chopped Green Chilli
  • 1/4 cup-finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup-finely chopped Spinach leaves
  • 1/4 cup-finely grated Carrot
  • 1/4 cup -finely chopped Dill leaves
  • ½- Red Bell pepper finely chopped
  • ¼ cup- Grated Raw Mango
  • ½ tsp -Ajwain
  • ½  tsp -Black Pepper Powder
  • ½  tsp -Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp- Chaat Masala
  • 1 tsp -Coriander Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1- 1 1/2 cup water to make batter
  • Oil/cooking spray for cooking 
 
Method:
  • Start adding small quantities of water to besan to make a smooth batter, so that there should be no lumps in it.
  • Add water till it comes to a dropping consistency or just like pancake/dosa batter. Now keep it aside.Let it rest for 10 mins. Besan will swell up n soak water.
  • Add all the chopped veggies.
  • Add all the Masalas and lemon juice  N mix well. 
You can make these in two ways:
 
A: On a Non Stick tawa/Pan:
Heat a non-stick- tawa or heavy bottom frying pan, then turn the heat on medium. Put little oil on tawa (1/4th tsp) n spread 1 serving spoonful of batter evenly on it.( If you are using non- stick tawa then no need to put any oil, just grease the tawa).
 
Let it cook on medium heat.
 
Turn it n cook on other side also.
 
Let it be brown & crispy from both sides.
 
Repeat the same with rest of the batter. 
 
 
B: In a Waffle Maker:
Heat your waffle maker according to the instructions given.
Spray with some cooking spray/ Non-stick spray.
 
 
 
Put a ladleful of batter in each waffle plate. 
 
Close the lid.
Let it cook for 7-10 mins.
(Mine took 8 mins.)
