I have seen the pics of edible Christmas Trees all over Pinterest lately and I just had to try it for myself! It looks amazing, very festive, versatile and making a christmas tree out of puff pastry is so quick and easy! Just rip and dip and enjoy the festivities.
Two sheets of Puff Pastry( approximately 8*10 in size)
Sesame seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
Few OlivesFor filling:
Pesto- 1 tablespoon
Ketchup- 1 tablespoon
Garlic Butter- 1 tablespoon
Pizza Sauce- 1 tablespoon
Mixed Herbs- 1 tablespoon
Mozzarella Cheese- as required
Mix all the ingredients listed under filling except cheese.
Take one sheet of puff pastry.
Cut out the shape of a tree – don’t throw away the rest of the dough, you can cut it into pieces and serve them alongside the tree.
Now, take the second sheet of puff pastry. Roll it out a bit.
Spread the filling evenly and sprinkle cheese.
Cover with the other sheet.
Cut the branches.
Twirl the branches.
Sprinkle sesame seeds over it and some olives too.
Use the left over pastry to make star shapes with a cookie cutter.
Bake in the oven at 200C for 10-15 minutes.
Feel free to use your favourite filling. You can make this recipe with lots of other savoury or sweet fillings! How about a jam or Nutella or Jam filled Christmas tree for brunch or an afternoon treat?
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
